In many ways a coming wedding is similar to the coming of Christmas; you know it’s going to happen but it is “all the way over there…” Though somewhere in the future, day by day that important date gets closer and life seems to start to move faster. Seemingly dis-related plans begin to align and focus on one important event and before we know it we realize that we really are in a race “and better get a move on.”
Speaking of the holiday season, Christmas falls on a Tuesday this year creating 2 big weekends for parties and weddings before New Year’s Eve.
Greensleeves – Video
In addition to DJ services and my Jazz Trio here is a video of the Elegant Music Quintet (Flute, Violin, Cello, Harp and Piano) performing “Greensleeves” for a wedding @ Bel-Air Country Club. Call Elegant Music about your holiday party right away; I hear Santa will be early this year and Rudolph wants to party!
We had fun performing at the San Gabriel Hilton Bridal Show
The Elegant Music Quartet performed this past Sunday October 7th in the San Gabriel Ballroom for the San Gabriel Chamber of Commerce bridal show. We met several couples just starting their odyssey of planning their wedding. They will find out it is a big job; it’s even a big job for those who do it professionally every weekend. But there is a secret…

Chinese American Construction Professionals
Just the week before Sheila and I performed with our Trio for a wedding at the Garden Terrace on the roof of the Hilton. Earlier this summer The Elegant Music Quartet performed with Soprano Sisu Raiken in the San Gabriel Ball Room for the 30th anniversary of CACP Chinese American Construction Professionals. This was an elegant installation dinner complete with music and dancing coordinated by Lucia Tam who can really organize an event. By the way, members of CACP built the San Gabriel Hilton.
Also in the San Gabriel Ballroom Soprano Sisu Raiken and I were hired to perform for a fund raiser for presidential candidate Mit Romney. In addition to performing and enjoying a wonderful Chinese Family Style meal Ms. Raiken and I had the opportunity to hear an inspiring talk by former Secretary of Labor Elaine Chow. The Honorable Ms, Chow is married to U.S. Senate Minority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell. I have to say I admired Ms. Chow’s intelligence and concise presentation of information. She is an amazing public speaker.
