“Christmas in May Blues Band”
A band for all seasons :-)
“The circumstances that might have caused a Christmas party to be moved to May are still a mystery. The creativity required to artfully circumvent these mysterious circumstances and . . . ”

“See you in September” (great song!)
But summertime has just gotten started.
Summertime! Party Time!
Bringing friends together is a great idea.
The spontaneity of “It’s Five O’ Clock Somewhere”
is reason enough to get together.

Trio Romantica. Latin American music.
There are 2 videos in this post. Part 2 plays automatically right after part 1.
In the first video (Part 1) a young woman from the audience called out to the band, “Hey music guys, are you single?”
Momentarily caught off guard I didn’t know whether to be flattered or embarrassed. However, the band’s “response” did reveal our responsibilities…
…but it was fun to consider the flattering question and banter.
See (Part 2) where we play beautiful romantic Latin American music which I like to think inspired the young woman’s question :-)
The Elegant Music Jazz Trio covers “Tequila” by The Champs.
There is an event venue close by.
An asset that with a little bit of decoration and the right music would contribute greatly to the success of your party.
The venue is called “Your Back Yard”.
In this video the band is dressed in Hawaiian shirts having fun playing Latin music. Whether a casual event or formal, I always enjoy performing with the Elegant Music Jazz Trio.
The gigs shown in this post were all backyard events; except for the performance of “Fragile” which was part of a memorial service held indoors.
Latin Jazz / Chamber Music arrangement of Sting composition “Fragile” covered by the Elegant Music Quartet.
In writing this Quartet arrangement I had the realization that Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, affectionately known as “Sting”, is a Jazz artist and that his song “Fragile” lends itself beautifully to Latin Jazz interpretation.

“There ain’t no cure for the Summertime Blues.” To kick the blues all you need to do is to view this video and it’ll put a smile on your face with some Italian music :-)
“Nota bene”
…is the Latin phrase meaning “note well”:
A Word About Popular Motion Picture Music
In referencing Disney’s “Lady and Tramp” I want to point out that motion picture themes are packed with memories and meaning. The performance of a song featured in a motion picture can bring that meaning and suggest a “theme” to any activity that it is performed for:
- Wedding Ceremony Processional or Recessional
- First Dance
- Anniversary Celebration/Dance
- Celebration of Life
- Fund Raiser
- Even a gentle underscore to a poem or theater performance
- Or a triumphant herald as athletes take the field as in a sporting event.
- Any “themed” event.
So, specific songs or styles of music are powerful elements of event planning that integrate with “design” and “presentation”. Choice of music can greatly contribute to an event establishing the atmosphere, forwarding the purpose and conveying the desired message.
It is a lot of fun to plan music for an event!
Here’s To The Next Party…
…and the next.
