Each Couple is Unique.
Understandably some have waited to have their wedding.
Understandably some in 2020 went ahead and had beautiful successful events.
Understandably there are restrictions in place. However, in events I personally presided over, service staff maintained recommended protocol and guests celebrated responsibly. The hosts of these events have kept track of the wellbeing of their guests and no one has fallen ill.
In the show notes of the following podcast episode there are links to several successful weddings and events that took place in 2020.

4 Tips for Postponed Weddings:
You have announced to your family and friends that you are getting married. Everyone is very happy for you. But then, due to circumstances beyond your control…
Here are some things you can do:
1. Let Others Know You Are Okay.
Reach out to your wedding guests, family and friends and find out how they are doing. They will be glad to hear from you; let them know that you are okay.

Let Others Know You Are Okay.
2. Make an Itinerary SKETCH.
Review your wedding plans and no matter what stage of wedding planning you are in, make an Itinerary SKETCH. Even if you don’t have a wedding date; there will be a start time and there is an end time. An itinerary sketch is a planning tool that helps you envision your wedding day. Reach out to your wedding vendors and talk with them about your timeline and itinerary. Get it sketched out on paper. A lot of things will start falling into place.
One bride who I recently helped said with great relief, “Now I understand my wedding!”
I really enjoy talking with couples and helping them create an itinerary sketch for their wedding. This is a free introductory service.

3. Review Your Wedding Budget.
A wedding budget is not necessarily a fixed thing; money is allocated and then reallocated. What your wedding will cost will be determined by what is important to you and what’s important to you will change with new information. It’s okay to change your mind.

4. Start Choosing Music You Like.
Each part of your wedding can have its own music.
Make a song list.
Start choosing music you like and work these into your itinerary sketch:
-
- Wedding Ceremony Music
-
- Cocktail Hour Music
-
- Wedding Reception Music

What’s Important To You…
When planning a special event there are those things that can be controlled and there are some things that can not be controlled. It is okay to leave some things uncontrolled and with optimism and creativity putting one’s attention on more important things.
Though California has its restrictions, look on the bright side, you have time to plan :-)
The above 4 points are planning targets you can do.
In these exceptional times remain creative and focus on what is important to you.
I look forward to hearing your ideas.
