Everyone has their romantic ideal of New York. Taking a moment many ideas and images come to mind. In much the same way everyone has his romantic ideal of what Hollywood is, can be or should be. And of course, everyone has their ideal of the paradise called Hawaii.

Though New York, Hollywood and Hawaii are actual locations the ideals of these exist in the imagination. These are our own creation; however to a great degree The Arts: Literature, Music and yes Hollywood it self contribute to it.
Tourism thanks to Hollywood?
About 13 years BC “Before Kids” Sheila and I went to the Grand Canyon. Awed by the visual of it all something yet caught my ear. I heard Italian, French, Dutch and Japanese spoken by the travelers/tourists all around us. Asking one couple (from Germany) why they had chosen the Grand Canyon and they said that they wanted to “experience America by visiting the land John Wayne was from”! Tourism thanks to Hollywood? On face value possibly but certainly the ideals on which “America” was founded and “John Wayne” fought for have inspired the world in many ways.
Ideals exist in the imagination. The artist strives to bring that imaginary ideal to life for all to experience. There must be an infinity of ways artist Walt Disney has inspired the world.
Having More Fun Than You Can Imagine
This weekend I had the pleasure to work on a commercial for the Disney Aulani Resort.
What does “Aulani” mean in Hawiian?
It is “the passing of heaven”.
One local said it meant “by order of the Chief” or “by the command of God.” Related word: “Ailani” means “of heaven” or “of the island.” Though ideals are created by the imagination the Aulani is a location and very much in the physical universe. Clearly the word was well chosen as what it describes transcends the physical.
