Sheila and I have had the pleasure of performing for weddings and parties at some of the most beautiful locations throughout Southern California since 1990.

Pasadena

The word “Pasadena” literally means “valley” in the Ojibwa (Chippewa) Indian language, but it has been interpreted to mean “Crown of the Valley” and “Key of the Valley,” hence the adoption of both the crown and the key in the official city seal.

Altadena

Sheila and I live in Altadena just above the Rose Bowl.  The name “Altadena”, was coined from the Spanish word “alta” meaning “upper” and “dena” from Pasadena. So one could say we live “Over The Valley” which is the title of a beautiful love song by Pink Martini. Over The Valley.  I recently finished arrangements of this song for our Quartet and Jazz Trio to play.

We love playing at the Langham. For this wedding we provided the Elegant Music Quintet for the wedding ceremony and cocktail hour and the Elegant Music Jazz Trio during dinner where I was also the Master of Ceremonies.  Planning a great wedding isn’t rocket science, it’s more like a work of art.

By the way, this year marks the 125th year of the Tournament of Roses Parade and the 100th year of the Rose Bowl Game so it is going to be quite a party in my neighborhood come December!
