Jazz on a Steinway
I love playing with my Jazz Trio.
As a solo pianist, I can play just about anything on the piano. With the support of String Bass and Drums I am freed up and yes, I can play just about anything.
Now having a great group is only about one-third of the equation. Having a fine instrument that is well maintained is essential, like the Steinway at the Valley Hunt Club; it’s a perfect piano in a perfect room.
The Audience
So a perfect piano in a perfect room; that’s 2 thirds of the equation but I have to say that the “give and take” with the audience has a big influence on how we play and indeed completes the equation becoming more than just the sum of its parts. To say “we have a lot of fun at the club” is really downplaying it.
Valentines Day
The next time we play this room it will be for the Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance. Club members know how popular this event is. Early reservations are recommended.
