Lately I have been working with Mothers of the Bride who have been planning weddings for their daughters who due to career and distance are too busy to plan their own weddings. Long distance wedding planning is quite a challenge even for a professional to pull off. Having this responsibility the savvy mother of the bride will ask for help.
I asked Wedding Professional Kimery Sherwood of Kimery Events this question: “What advice would you give to help these mothers help their daughters?” Though there is a lot to planning a wedding Kimery’s answer serves as a general outline of how to proceed for someone not familiar with event planning:
“Hire a wedding planner.”

“It is also about the Moms “picking the Bride and Grooms minds” on every element:”
- “thoughts on venue (indoors or outdoors/ garden or more modern)”
- “music (Band vs. DJ)”
- “food ideas and what they like (sit down dinner or buffet)”
- “more traditional or more contemporary on various elements (ceremony music, photography and décor)”
- “religious or non-religious (officiant /ceremony). This helps so much in finding that right vendor for the couple.”

“Other than that, it really is about hiring a great ‘team’ of vendors who can help guide and assist the mother in capturing their daughter’s vision of things.”
“Hope that this was helpful….. Best-Kimery”

Thank you Kimery!
Sincerely, Eric Zimmermann DJ/Master of Ceremonies, Pianist and Band Leader Elegant Music 626-797-1795.
