I think the goal of every host planning a party is that their guests enjoy themselves.
During the planning process there is a vision and anticipation of how the event will be. The host chooses their favorite food, their favorite music; friends are invited. Putting it all together is very creative and a lot of fun.
And then, on the day of their party guests mingle and catch up with each other; new friends are made. The host enjoys seeing it all come together as the evening unfolds. I think seeing one’s guests enjoying themselves is what the host enjoys the most.
Favorite Food
When setting up at this party I was delighted to see that Silver Spoons was catering the event. As a DJ/MC, Pianist, Bandleader and Foodie, I have enjoyed playing for weddings and events throughout Southern California for over 25 years and Silver Spoons Catering is one of my favorite caterers.

Favorite Music
Talking with Scott (the celebrant) I was reminded of how cool the music of Bruce Springsteen is. Just about every Springsteen song is an Anthem!
Throughout the evening I played a mix of Classic Rock which was perfect for this audience. Later on we went an hour into overtime where I also played dance music.
Simply, Scott shared ideas about music. Basically, that’s how I put together play lists for events. The playlist is “the soundtrack” for the event. As a DJ/MC those casual conversations are important in helping me to know what to play and that goes a long way to ensuring the success of the event.
And then, I get notes like this:
