—Open on a Dad standing next to his Midea AC unit by a window. He has his phone out. His
daughter walks over.
Daughter: Hey Dad what are you doing?
Dad: I’m just setting up the app for our new Midea Ac unit. It’s connected to wi-fi so I can
control it from anywhere.
What are you up to?
Daughter: Dylan’s coming over to study.
Dad: And you’re wearing that.
We see the daughter has an outfit dad doesn’t approve.
Daughter: Daaaad…
SFX: Doorbell
Cut to Dylan, the teen boyfriend at the front door. The Dad opens the door
Dylan: Hey Mr. H
Dad: Dylan
Dad: Ok, I’ll be upstairs.
The dad walks up the stairs and yells down
Dad: Just studying!
Cut to the dad pulling out his phone. Cut to a tight shot of his phone’s screen.
We see him toggle through the different pages as we see the easy to use interface. He gets to
the temperature control that reads living
room and he turns it way down to 50 degrees.
Cut to the two studying. The daughter starts shivering.
Daughter: I’m going to go put something warm on, it’s really cold in here all of a sudden.
Cut back to the dad who is smiling with the app open on his phone.
Cut to the daughter now wearing oversized sweats.
Cut back to the daughter and Dylan who are now cuddling close to keep warm as they read out
of a textbook. The Dad walks back in the
room.
Dad: What’s going on?
Daughter: It’s so cold we were just trying to keep warm.
The dad rolls his eyes as he takes his phone back out and starts to adjust the temperature
again. .

My name is Eric Zimmermann. I am a DJ and Master of Ceremonies, Pianist, Band Leader and Host of Wedding & Event Podcast. I have been performing all of my life as a professional musician. As a Master of Ceremonies I am very comfortable in front of an audience and so I didn’t think that there was anything to learn about public speaking. However, at the urging of friends I looked into the public speaking club “ToastMasters International” and soon realized that there were some things I didn’t know. Attending ToastMasters learned many new skills! Since then I have achieved the level of “Competent ToastMaster.” Looking back at this it is kind of funny how, I didn’t know what I didn’t know.

A short time ago (again at the urging of friends) I looked into commercial acting. Right off the bat I booked a variety of work including playing a “wind farm owner” for Key Bank and a knee surgeon for Fauquier Health. Fauquier Health. Right after that booked work for Disneyland and Embassy Suites.

My latest role was a businessman for a Japanese cell phone commercial. What is interesting about this one is that at the audition I had to play “Rock, Paper, Scissors” in Japanese. Really, what they wanted was to see was a playful spontaneity. Then, on set we (the other businessmen and women and I) were given simple children’s toys and instructed to figure out new ways to play with them. It was silly and fun. We were told that the director was laughing while viewing the takes and to keep doing what we were doing.

So thinking there may be more to learn about acting I enrolled in an acting class and last week completed a 2 month study of the basics of “Improv” at The Acting Center right in the heart of Hollywood, CA on the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Western Ave. To say I had an amazing experience would be an understatement. I am so taken by this that I am continuing and have enrolled in the “Scene Study Class.”

Tonight @ 8:00 PM my class will be performing; kind of like our final exam or acting recital; they call it an acting salon.
