Rancho Palos Verdes Wedding Location
The Trump National Golf Course is a beautiful location for a wedding overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Rancho Palos Verdes California and a fitting location for the third wedding I have done for this family. Every wedding by this family has been a creative outpouring of a very creative mother.
“throwing a pot”

Linda is a potter. In pottery when you make a pot your are “throwing a pot”. Sometimes when firing a ceramic pot it breaks. Linda’s idea for the first wedding was to make Japanese tea cups as wedding favors. So she “threw” and fired 300 tea cups (knowing some would break) to arrive at enough gifts for 250 guests. These were individually boxed. Hand thrown rice bowls and tiny plates for sashimi were made and given as wedding favors at the 2 following weddings.
“Flash Mob” & Remote Choreography
As if that wasn’t enough to do she choreographed dances for the bridesmaids and groomsmen to perform as a surprise for the bride and groom.

Now maybe by the 3rd wedding it was expected that mom would instigate something like this. But pulling off a performance like this included filming a small number of bridesmaids and groomsmen who were able to get together locally get together in secret rehearse and then sending those filmed rehearsals out to the remaining bridesmaids and groomsmen who live out of state so that they could also learn the choreography!
Creative Choices in Wedding Ceremony Music
For the first wedding Linda chose a beautiful composition for the bridesmaids to process to entitled “Grace” by the Norwegian group “Secret Garden”. Only thing was at the time there was no published sheet music available for this composition; only the recording existed. So, I had to do a “take down” which means listen to the recording and write it out by ear for the quartet to perform.

A Wedding is a Major Event
Yes, a wedding is a major event for everyone concerned and of course it is a big day for the groom and bride! And here I have given only a glimpse of how one mother thoroughly enjoyed contributing to her children getting married.
Can you imagine 3 weddings!
I encourage couples and their families to express their ideas and it is my job to make their vision happen. It is a collaboration and we all have a lot of fun.
Thinking back on these weddings I am still totally blown away. Thank you Linda!

PS: A Personal Note.
I spoke with the director of catering before the wedding earlier in the afternoon when I arrived to setup. As it turns out I have worked with Monica before she worked at Trump National. I asked her if she had ever met Donald Trump. She said, “Yes, several times.” She described that in the beginning when the club was just getting started that Mr. Trump would visit every other month. In addition to meetings he talked with her personally and would ask: “How is it going with booking weddings?” “Do you need any help?” “Do you have business cards?”
From what she described it seemed that Mr. Trump was personable and genuinely interested in ensuring the success of Trump National Golf Course.
This gives me hope.
Sincerely, Eric
