Dressed To Kill
A finely tailored suit, freshly pressed shirt, shined shoes… Or for women: that special dress, earrings and heels… you know you look good and you can’t help but feel confident and perhaps a bit dangerous.
There is that iconic transformation when a mild mannered reporter from the “Daily Planet” (who can’t get a date with Lois Lane) dons a red cape and blue tights and sweeps all the ladies off their feet. (aside: I am wondering if it’s the cape or tights that create the biggest affect?)

Planning Music for a Themed Event
When planning music for a special event instrumentation can influence the type of music that will be performed. Looking at it another way, music requests can influence the instrumentation chosen for the event. See: Music and Instrument Choices.
Already in tux I’ve noticed musicians play even better when under a chandelier! Design, decor and music all contribute to the atmosphere of an event. Live Music is both the “sound track” and the ensemble’s performance is “entertainment”. These are dynamic factors influencing a themed event. Rounding off a successful event would be the necessary component of “presentation” by a competent Master of Ceremonies.
Add good friends, food and something interesting to drink, mix gently and let the good times roll!

Event Theme: “A Night In Venice”
I love working with the creative team that produced this event. They always have great ideas. They sent me links to several videos featuring the “house band” of Cafe Florian playing festive Italian music at this landmark restaurant on St. Mark’s Square in Venice Italy. The event designer said “Watch this video… we want that.” This was easy, everybody loves Italian music!

An augmented Elegant Music Jazz Trio performed; instrumentation included: Piano, String Bass and Drums with Accordion and Violin. This ensemble was further augmented with the addition of two Opera singers: Baritone Bernardo Bermudez and Soprano Ariel Pisturino! To say that we had fun recreating Cafe Florian would be an understatement.
The ensemble was able to split and stroll amongst guests allowing for music to be performed in several locations simultaneously. There is certainly magic in Italian Music. I felt happy for days after the event humming these familiar melodies.
