Since 1990 Elegant Music has provided wedding ceremony music in some of the most beautiful locations throughout Southern California including Malibu, Santa Monica, Long Beach, Palos Verdes; Pasadena, Burbank, Beverly Hills, La Canada Flintridge, Orange County, Ventura. Catholic Wedding Ceremony Program SKETCH

A Catholic wedding ceremony offers many opportunities for music performance during the service. Here is a ceremony program sketch for a Catholic wedding ceremony. Note: A Catholic wedding ceremony can be performed “Spoken” or “Sung”. A spoken Catholic ceremony takes less time and can fit into a 45 minute to 1 hour wedding service. Making Your Wedding Your Own

Music is personal. Your wedding ideas are important. Part of planning wedding music is to communicate your vision.

Here is a true story about a bride who seemed to not have a vision but seemed to be detached from her wedding. It was as if it wasn’t her wedding, it was someone else’s wedding. It seemed she had to settle for what every one else was doing or had done. These ideas stood in the way of her own creation.

Her wedding coordinator was having trouble getting her bride to be interested and make decisions. This had gotten so bad that the bride would end these planning sessions with “you choose the menu” “you choose the colors”… When I spoke with this bride about her wedding ceremony processionals and what she wanted to walk down the aisle to, she said, “I don’t know. I’ll probably just go with “Here Comes The Bride””. Very resigned, like it didn’t matter. This wasn’t ok with me.

I told her about a couple I had met at the Disneyland Bridal Show who were very much fans of “Final Fantasy” and how that couple had paid me to write Quartet arrangements of Final Fantasy Themes that they wanted performed for their Wedding Ceremony Processionals and Recessional at Disneyland.

Her response was that of strong interest,  “You mean, I can have anything?”

Quartets of Elegant Music

 

Elegant Music started with my wife Sheila and I performing as a Duo playing Flute and Piano Music.

At bridal shows in the early 1990s we met couples wanting to hire a Quartet. So we added Violin and Cello to the Flute and Piano and the Elegant Music Quartet was born. As I began writing arrangements for this ensemble I discovered its beauty and versatility. From this group other instrument combinations became possible. The Elegant Music Harp Quartet – Harp Flute and Strings is one of many ensembles that derived from the Elegant Music Quartet.

How much does wedding ceremony music cost in Los Angeles?

Wedding ceremony music ranges from $350 – $1800 for a 1 hour ceremony.

Note: It is economical to have your wedding ceremony musicians play both your wedding ceremony and your cocktail hour.  For example have your Solo Pianist  perform music for both the wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. The second hour costs is far less than having to hire an additional ensemble for your cocktail hour. Solo Piano for a 1 hour wedding ceremony would cost $350 in Los Angeles and $75 for the next hour for a total of 2 hours for both wedding ceremony and cocktail hour music.

Getting Married. The Beautiful Effect of People Coming Together by Eric Zimmermann

On a personal note: In over 30 years Elegant Music has performed for weddings of many faiths and cultures; each had many customs and beliefs in common with each other. My philosophy is that the world gets better when two individuals (who are good people) find each other, find that they have many things in common, fall in love and decide to get married.

It has been my observation and the families of these good people are also nice people! They want to help and participate in the joining of the couple and so in addition to two people deciding to get married and face life together, so too their families are brought together and join in supporting the couple; new friends are made. And that’s part of the beautiful effect that getting married has on individual lives, on the lives of their families, their communities, their cultures and the world.
