Wedding Idea:
“There are several parts to a wedding and each part can have its own design and atmosphere created by music.”
“The links shown are from recent weddings and parties illustrating this idea.”

Prelude Music As Guests Arrive
It is easy to create a welcoming atmosphere with music. Guests are arriving. They are taking in the beauty of the location. There is an ensemble performing. The anticipation that something important is about to happen is unmistakable.

Wedding Ceremony Processionals
Every motion picture has a “soundtrack” that conveys emotion and supports each scene as the story unfolds. In much the same way music can be used to underscore those processing down the aisle:
- Seating of parents…
- Groom’s entrance…
- Bridesmaid’s processional…
- Bride’s processional.
Each of these can have its own music. Something fun, something beautiful, something romantic, something triumphant! It’s a lot of fun to choose music for your wedding ceremony processionals and recessional. Traditional classical music always works. However, as an example of “Something Fun” I remember several weddings where the groomsmen processed to something unusual that totally worked: Theme from “Star Trek Voyager” and another coming out to “Zooster’s Breakout” from Madagascar“ and still another processed wearing sunglasses to the “Peter Gun television theme” played live by the quartet.

Cocktail Hour Music
After all that anticipation of a wedding ceremony there is a release. I remember one bridesmaid say
“The hard part’s over.”
Now that everything is more relaxed guest really start interacting; it’s a party. This is a wide open opportunity to get creative with music.

Grand Entrance Music

Wedding ceremony music and cocktail hour music work well with a live ensemble. One of my favorite grand entrances was for a wedding at the Langham where the Groom and Bride chose “This Will Be” by Natalie Cole for their bridal party entrance and “Heart of Courage“ by Two Steps from Hell at marker (:56) for their entrance. Big contrast; very creative choices. For this grand entrance prerecorded music played on my 4 speaker Dance Floor Surround Sound system worked great!
