Question: What contributed to the success of this wedding?

Answer: The bride, the groom, their families and guests; all contributed to creating this wedding:

 

  • A friend of the family officiated the wedding ceremony and later played traditional Irish tunes on the accordion.

 

 

  • At the end of the wedding ceremony the bridal party broke into song singing “All You Need Is Love” for the Jessica and CJ’s recessional accompanied by the Elegant Music Quartet.

  • The Father of the bride (a very creative guy) inspired by his daughter’s wedding put together an amazing medley of music excerpts for the Father Daughter Dance.

These excerpts included:

  • Harry Chapin’s “Cat In The Cradle”

 

  • Bob Dylan’s “May you Stay Forever Young” performed by rapper will i am,

 

  • the traditional Irish song “Take Me Home To Mayo”,

 

  • an excerpt from a traditional greek dance and

 

  • “Butterfly Kisses” by Lee Greenwood.

Summary of a perfect wedding

  • So, the Irish side of the family brought the officiant who brought the accordion. 

 

  • The New Jersey side of the family brought “the Springsteen”.

 

  • And the Greek side of the family brought the Ouzo (a dessert liqueur made from Fennel)

 

  • …and everyone danced!

Motion Pictures and Weddings

A motion picture is a composition utilizing many art forms such as story line, costume design, cinematography. These, are aesthetically arranged to create an emotional effect to entertain and inspire the viewer.

Unlike a motion picture which requires several takes of scenes and extensive editing…

your wedding will occur in “one take.”

 So, planning and having one’s “ducks in a row” is important.

 

Creating an itinerary sketch in the early stages of wedding planning helps in many ways. 

Even if you haven’t chosen a wedding date, it would be very productive to talk about your ideas for your wedding and to write those ideas down. 

You will be amazed at how effective this simple organizing action can be.

What is a Classic?

“Classic” means something that is a perfect example of a particular style, something of lasting worth or with a timeless quality… serving as a standard of excellence: of recognized value.

Derivation: French classique, from Latin classicus– of the highest class, of the first rank.  (Wikkipedia)

 

What is Elegant?

“Elegant” means of a high grade or quality.

Derivation: from Latin eligere – to elect, select or to choose. 
(Websters online dictionary)

So, Elegant Music is “chosen music”

 

Choices

It was very evident that Heidi and Paul made great choices and enjoyed planning their wedding.

The Queen Mary is a classic location with a storied history.

It was a beautiful celebration!

Traditionally right after a wedding ceremony guests enjoy refreshments while the bridal party takes pictures. Anticipating that she and Paul would be busy Heidi asked that I record the cocktail hour for her.

After playing solo piano during the cocktail hour I conducted the evenings festivities as Paul and Heidi’s Master of Ceremonies.

Then as their DJ, I played dance music.

Everyone danced.

And danced!

We Had Fun! @ Bridgerton Bridal Fashion Show

Hello. My name is Eric Zimmermann.

This past  Sunday the Elegant Music Quartet performed for a Bridgerton inspired Bridal Fashion Show at the Marriott Long Beach, CA hotel during the Premier Bridal Show.

For this performance I wrote new arrangements of popular contemporary music featured in episodes of the Bridgerton series.

Composition – Combining Style and Art Forms

“Composition” is the arrangement of elements in a work of art to create a whole.

Derivation: From Latin componere (“to put together, compose”), from com- (“together”) + ponere (“to put, place”).

Bridgerton for all its fashion and design combines the style of this period in British history with today’s contemporary music. To fit contemporary music into this period, these “pop tunes” are performed by traditional chamber music instruments: Violin, Cello, Flute, Harp, Piano.

I really enjoy writing for this combination of instruments. Just about all of the music the Elegant Music Quartet performs were once requests by couples who were getting married.
