Though each wedding is unique and planning a wedding is hardly a science, there are factors common to successful weddings and events. I really enjoyed working with Lindsay and Martin on their wedding. At first we laid the groundwork for their wedding by phone and e-mail. When we got together we found out a very important fact that Lindsay and Martin are animal lovers! Lindsay works for Purina and her dad is a veterinarian. We have a new kitten named Luna that Sheila and our daughter Sara rescued.
Perhaps you have seen the commercial “Dear Kitten” produced by Purina.
Again, planning a wedding is hardly a science but the moon and stars were aligned and all of this boded well for a successful wedding.
Race Track Wedding
Now, weddings can happen anywhere but I have to say that the aesthetic contribution of this beautiful location to this wedding was unmistakeable. Santa Anita Park is steeped in history. I can’t really describe it but it was exciting for me to perform solo piano during the cocktail hour in the grandstand of this iconic race track! I was also there DJ/Master of Ceremonies for their wedding reception.
Grand Entrance “You made me better today.”
Bridal party couples came down the flight of stairs (on the left) and lined up along the edge of the dance floor. Then Martin and Lindsay came down the flight of stairs (on the right) and started their first dance. After a short time the bridal party was asked to join the groom and bride on the dance floor. They Put Together A Good Team
Another factor that contributed to the success of this wedding were the vendors chosen by Martin and Lindsay. Everyone was professional and worked well together. Essentially they were nice people. Speaking of nice people I was surprised and delighted that long time friend and colleague Photographer Jessica Sterling had been chosen by the couple.
Here is my shot of Jessica getting the shot of Martin and Lindsay toasting their guests.
The Successful Wedding
Beautiful location. Nice people. Meaningful toasts. Everyone had a great time!

PS: A wedding is often a race to the finish line. With many parts (all in motion) it takes an experienced coordinator to jockey a wedding to the winner’s circle. I’m not horsing around! Well, maybe I am just a little :-)
All kidding aside a special thank you to Wedding Coordinator Paula Klein 626-422-9032.
